Sprayfoam insulation study 2023

Описание: There are estimated to be 250,000 people in the UK with retrofit sprayfoam roof insulation. Many of these installations will likely have no adverse or damaging effects to the property however, the history of closed cell foams used mainly as a bonding agent for failing roof coverings has meant, that all sprayfoam installations are considered a 'risk'. This means for those homeowners who invested in sprayfoam insulation under the impression they were safely improving the energy efficiency of their homes, the consequences of this decision are severe.

Many homeowners now find themselves unable to re-mortgage or take equity release for the reason that the industry and institutions haven't yet decided what is or isn't considered acceptable with banks, building societies and other financial institutions sitting on the fence. It's a sorry state of affairs.

For this reason I've setup a research study group to monitor the effects of retrofit sprayfoam in buildings. This will be the first study of it's kind in the UK hoping to dismiss the myths and hysteria behind sprayfoam installations and provide a review of sprayfoam based on real life analytical data. Our research is being supported by industry leading manufacturers Tramex Meters who have supplied us with an array of specialist data logging and moisture detection equipment allowing us to monitor ambient conditions and moisture levels in roofs both with and without sprayfoam insulation over our study period.

The study will run this winter period from October 2023 - March 2024 when following a review of all the analytical data we acquire, myself and GRAHAM COLEMAN will publish our findings.

This will be the first study of it's kind in the UK and i'm sure the results will make interesting reading.
