Suresnes American Cemetery, just outside Paris, commemorates American service members who lost their lives during World War I and World War II.
Buried here are more than 1,500 Americans who died in WWI and more than 20 unknown fallen from WWII.
When the unknowns were buried at the cemetery, the World War I memorial chapel was enlarged by the addition of two loggias dedicated to the dead of both wars.
Bronze tablets on interior walls record the names of 974 missing from the Great War.
The American Battle Monuments Commission honors America's fallen service members and their stories at 26 overseas cemeteries and 31 monuments.
