In my goal of catching a train on every section of track on the Puget Sound and Pacific's system, the Hoquiam run was one, like many, that has managed to illude 'modern' railfans and their cameras. This just made me more eager to catch it. Eventually, after months of trying, I was successful in my mission.
I was excited to hear chatter on the scanner when I arrived in Aberdeen because that meant PSAP job 701 was most likely crossing the Hoquiam River to its namesake town.
There are 2 swing bridges in Hoquiam, one of which is still in service today. The ladder was built by the Norther Pacific Railway in 1908. It is a cool thing to see a piece of history like this well maintained and in use on modern operations. Please enjoy.
