1️⃣ HSA vs FSA — know the difference.
HSA: Pre-tax money, grows tax-free, AND rolls over yearly. Only for high-deductible plans. You keep it even if you change jobs.
FSA: Also pre-tax, but usually use it or lose it within the year (some small carryover allowed). Great for predictable expenses like copays, period products, glasses, counseling, or procedures.
2️⃣ Plan around what you know you’ll need.
If you expect GYN surgery, fertility treatments, menopause labs, therapy, or regular meds—choose a plan and HSA/FSA contributions that match your real life. Sometimes the higher-premium plan actually saves you more.
3️⃣ Use your preventive benefits.
Most plans cover these at no cost:
• Annual physical
• Well-woman exam
• Cancer screenings
• Vaccines
Don’t pay out-of-pocket elsewhere when insurance covers it under prevention.
4️⃣ Track your spending.
Use your HSA/FSA card and save your receipts. Copays, deductibles, prescriptions, medical devices, period products, and more often qualify.
