Описание: Overview of Nagpur Metro Rail Project
Nagpur Metro Rail Project (NMRP) consists of 38.215 km metro corridor, 37 Stations and 2 Depots. The project has 2 corridors i.e., North-South and East-West corridors. The entire project is on elevated viaduct with a small length at-grade. Stations have been designed using a contemporary concept which integrates the regional characteristics of place to the station. Stations provide user-friendly facilities to the commuters. The viaduct predominantly comprises simply supported precast post tensioned segmental box girder with RCC piers and bored cast in situ pile/open foundations. The viaduct includes three double decker stretches (i.e., multilayer transport system) with elevated National Highway at the first level and Metro Rail at the second (top) level both supported on same piers. Flyover in two of the stretches has Spine & Rib type superstructure. The project also includes one flyover branching off from the double decker flyover to cross the Indian Railway tracks with steel bow string girder superstructure. The metro rail alignment crosses Indian Railway tracks at following three locations:
(i) Anand Talkies : Three span integral bridge (72m + 97m + 62.2m) with balance cantilever construction.
(ii) Gaddigodam : Double decker Steel Through Truss (80m span) having four lane National Highway flyover at bottom chord level and metro rail tracks at top chord level.
(iii) Prajapati steel concrete composite superstructure (36m span).
The project is nearing completion with 23 stations (including the interchange station) and 25 km of the corridors already commissioned.

Dr. M. P. RAMNAVAS is currently working as Executive Director / Design with Maharashtra Metro Rail Corpn. Ltd. at Nagpur since Sep. 2016. He is overall in-charge for the structural & architectural design for civil engineering infrastructure for Nagpur Metro Rail Project and allied projects.
He has over 30 years’ experience in rail / metro rail industry in planning, design and construction of rail / metro rail infrastructure like railway bridges, road over bridges, road under bridges, elevated viaduct, road cum rail bridge, metro station structures, etc. Prior to joining Maha-Metro, he has worked for RITES, Konkan Railway and Southern Railway.
During his career, he was involved in the work of various important bridges on Indian Railways including Chenab bridge, Bogibeel bridge, etc.
He holds M.Tech. in Structural Engg. from IIT Madras and Ph.D. in Structural Engg. from IIT Delhi. He has published technical papers in various international journals and has presented technical papers in conferences.
He is Fellow/Member of various professional institutions.
