Here are a list of the benefits:

1. NO COMMISSIONS for stocks, mutual funds or ETF's. Options have a very small fee which is the same for any brokerage account. If you desire to trade options, you can apply after you have opened an account.


2. NO MINIMUM amount to open the investment account or IRA. In the past, there was a $2,500 minimum to open one. There is an optional feature called Portfolio Builder that does have a $2,500 minimum. You can open the account and choose to do the Portfolio Builder, at a later time.


3. Easy to transfer money to and from checking and savings accounts. The benefit is that it usually takes 3 business days to transfer available cash from an outside brokerage account to a Chase checking or savings account. With Chase, it can be done on the same day in the same way that money is transferred between checking and savings accounts.


(Keep in mind that it takes a full day after the day a stock, mutual fund or ETF is sold to clear. An investment sold on a Monday is available for another trade but not for transfer purposes to another account. The funds would be cleared on Tuesday and available on Wednesday morning for a transfer. KEEP IN MIND....if you sell a stock or mutual fund or ETF on a Monday and immediately buy another investment with the available proceeds, it is a violation to sell the second investment before Wednesday. The brokerage firms give a courtesy to clients to use the money for another buy before it fully clears but violating that rule could case a 90 day block which would only allow for buys when the money has fully cleared two days after a sold investment.)


4. If you already have a Chase checking or savings account, it is fast and easy to open an investment account. It takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete the online application. The account was opened and functional within a day or two.
