this has been the most painful level I have ever beaten/grinded so far (besides BoF). My first time playing it was 4 years ago but I clearly wasn't ready for this level yet as I wasn't making any significant progress at all within the 15h I played it back then (not even a door entry iirc) + I was in a mentally unstable phase of my life so this level actually made me feel horrendously.
Now that I've come back to Maker again, this level has been very up on my list as I wanna revenge my grind, clear all the OG 10.5s and because DT is just such a cool and intimidating lvl still to this day.
Overall the level is super obnoxious and technical with a lot of rare tech. Each Even though there clearly are difficulty spikes (beginning 3 tricks and last 2 tricks), each trick has some little details you gotta be careful about. I'll give tips to those details in the comment section.
It's a very painful grind as the first 3 tricks are super difficult and sort of kill the majority of your attempts. Then even if you arrive to the pre nai and nai, those 2 tricks will ALSO kill a looooot of your far attempts. So you pretty much need to "beat" the lvl a lot of times before you have the "full" clear. Plus pretty much every trick is rather obnoxious and precise. Alsoooo, the very first trick is uhm.... something....
Also I think I should have approached the grind a little differently - I should have practiced the drybones wake up and the reclaim part more earlier. Those 2 tricks were a major factor in most "better" run opportunities getting ruined. At the end of the grind, I finally got a pretty good grasp of them but that sadly came wayy too late in the grind and my strats for both changed all the time.
Btw. this level has been living rent free in my mind to such an extend that I recognize the lvl code instantly lmao.
Btw. thanks a lot to all the people who helped me with the drybones wake up (especially Ark, Yoshi and snaggy).
Overall, I cannot entirely recommend going for this level personally. The level teaches you a lot about the game and yourself imo (especially the duck tech) but it is a rather horrible grind for many people so be aware of that before you try it.
Even though playing the level can be quite painful, getting far runs just feels so good + I love the level overall still.
4 years ago I put 15h10min into the lvl and now that I've come back to it another 34h15min.
I had 30 cape deaths, 29 pre nais, 4 nais and 4 attempts where I reached the door only with the red coin key.
Funnily my last nai was just 2min before the clear XD
