“Today, we honor an institution that stands on the frontline of our national stability – the Philippine National Police (PNP). For decades, the PNP has carried a clear responsibility: to keep our communities safe, our streets orderly, and our people secure,” expressed Executive Secretary Ralph Recto when he attended the Philippine National Police (PNP) Day held at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

The event was the first of its kind for the Organization. During the program, the Executive Secretary, along with Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor ‘Jonvic’ Remulla and newly sworn-in PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., honored outstanding officers, personnel, stakeholders and partners whose service reflected the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity.

“Serbisyong nararamdaman at kapulisang maaasahan ang kailangan ng bawat mamamayang Pilipino. The statistics you reported as delivered by PNP Chief Nartatez tell a clear story… But beyond the numbers, what matters most is that families go home safe, businesses operate with confidence, and communities feel protected,” the Executive Secretary stated, acknowledging the PNP’s accomplishments.

He reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to improving the PNP’s preparedness and advancing their professional development. This year, the police force has been allocated a budget of Php226 billion.

Aside from the increase in the daily subsistence allowance, this budget will enable the PNP to add 2,000 more personnel, bringing the force closer to the ideal police-to-population ratio of 1:500.

Other programs allocated with additional funding cover the PNP’s Crime Prevention and Suppression Program, including the Capability Enhancement Program, construction of police stations and ICT (information and communications technology) projects to enhance digitalization.

“This is how we build a police force that is effective on the streets and credible in the eyes of the people… This is how we build a safer nation. This is how we move towards a more progressive and secure Bagong Pilipinas,” Executive Secretary Recto continued.

“On my end as the Executive Secretary, I stand with the President in strengthening an accountable, professional, and citizen-focused PNP. We will continue to provide necessary support and resources needed for you to perform your duty at the highest standard that this nation demands,” he concluded.
