Teaching calm behaviour at the van/car is one of the most valuable skills you can give your dog.

Rushing out of the crate can lead to over-arousal, pulling, and even unsafe moments near roads.

In this session, Mya & Floki practised threshold manners — waiting calmly while the crate door opens just a little at a time.

The door only opens fully when they’re relaxed and thinking clearly.

Then, after a short pause, they’re released with “OK” and rewarded for choosing calm behaviour.

This simple routine builds:
• Safer exits
• Polite, controlled behaviour
• A calmer mindset before the walk even begins
• Better focus once the lead goes on

Practise at home with your van on the drive — consistency really pays off!
