In this video I show how I close up and move a colony.
This particular hive is a breeder queen colony that I needed to relocate closer for grafting convenience.
I like to close up colonies with a piece of folded #8 hardware cloth in the shape of a V. It keeps bees from exiting while providing ventilation.
