During testimony, multiple witnesses, including a sales consultant from an AT&T store in Greensboro, North Carolina, and a Palm Beach County sheriff's deputy, provided a timeline of events and introduced evidence connecting Routh to the alleged plot. Routh, who is representing himself, questioned witnesses about their statements, at one point probing the unusual practice of a person staying for multiple nights at a truck stop.

The prosecution presented a wide range of evidence, including surveillance video showing Routh at a Marathon gas station in South Bay and the AT&T store in North Carolina, satellite images of the surrounding area, and photographs of a kayak and rifle parts left at a previous employee’s home. The court also heard about a "John White" alias used by Routh when he purchased a prepaid phone with cash.
