This video lists types of energy (in general), then focuses on the empirical equation that gives the correct values for the emission lines seen for hydrogen. The Hydrogen Atom is often referred to as the Bohr Atom, because the equations we will do work for hydrogen. We will calculate the energy (of the photon) released when the electron falls from the n = 3 energy level in a hydrogen atom to the n = 2 energy level.
Once we have used the equation to calculate the energy of the electron's transition, we will calculate the frequency, then the wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation given off when the electron makes the transition. A "PHOTON" is released, and that photon (an exact "piece" of electromagnetic radiation - or light ) will have the calculated frequency and wavelength associated with that particular part of the spectrum.
