This groundbreaking understanding of nuclear fission revealed a new and immensely powerful source of energy within the atom, hinting at both incredible potential and terrifying destructive possibilities.

This scientific journey reached its peak in 1945. Under the urgency of World War II and figures like J. Robert Oppenheimer, the Manhattan Project achieved the creation of the first atomic bomb. That year marked the dawn of the atomic age, forever changing our world and casting a long shadow over our future.
