Crested Butte, CO - Mountain biking the 401 Trail. Some trails you ride for the features and others are for the views. Mountain biking the 401 Trail should be on your list of trails to ride whenever you get a chance to mountain bike Crested Butte. It is very much an intermediate trail with fast flow and stunning vistas of the Gothic Natural Area north of Mount Crested Butte. The trail has limited features, but the logic behind the 401 is the wildflowers, various other mountain brush, and a rare glimpse of the south side of the Maroon Bells. Enjoy it for what it is worth as you'll be hard pressed to find a more scenic route in Colorado.
