"Melkor, seeking vengeance and power, allied himself with Ungoliant and returned secretly to Valinor. During the festival, he and Ungoliant attacked the Two Trees, draining their light and plunging the world into darkness. In the chaos, they traveled to Formenos, where Melkor slew Finwë and seized the Silmarils kept there. Though the jewels burned his hands, he refused to let them go, driven by hatred and greed. Pursued by the Valar's wrath, Melkor escaped with Ungoliant toward Middle-earth, beginning a new age of shadow."

Beneath the Trees, the stars grew pale,
The silver breath began to fail;
The gold withdrew to hidden seas,
The wind forgot the scent of leaves.

The heavens trembled, roots took flight,
The world stood blind, denied of sight;
The song of dawn became a cry—
The deathless land forgot the sky.

“O Valinor! O home of stars!
The breath of gods now bears our scars.
The flame is gone, the joy undone—
The night is born, the end begun.”

From north they came, the dark unbound,
A veil of hunger cloaked the ground;
Ungoliant’s maw, a blackened sea,
Devoured light eternally.

Melkor’s hand, the traitor’s smile,
Tore the world from golden isle;
The scream of Trees, the silence deep—
The sun unborn was forced to sleep.

“O Valinor! O home of stars!
The breath of gods now bears our scars.
The flame is gone, the joy undone—
The night is born, the end begun.”

The Valar stood in ashen light,
Their crowns of flame reduced to white;
Yavanna wept, her hands in prayer,
For life undone beyond repair.

“O Children lost, O world unmade,
We gave you dawn, you gave us shade.”
The halls of song grew mute and still—
And hope lay dying on the hill.

“No star will rise, no seed will grow,
The wind forgets the way to blow.
Yet in the dark, one spark remains—
The fire that hides in mortal veins.”
