Demolition Begins at Ford Plant Site in Saint Paul

Описание: On Monday, June 10, Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, Saint Paul City Councilmember Chris Tolbert and Ford Project Manager Mike Hogan will be on hand to speak to media about the vision of the Ford site as the demolition process of the former Twin Cities Assembly Plant begins. The 150-acre site on the east bank of the Mississippi River in the Highland Park neighborhood of Saint Paul presents a substantial redevelopment opportunity for the city and its residents.

Ford and the City of Saint Paul are working closely together to ensure site demolition is carefully handled and disruption to the surrounding area is minimalized. Site demolition will include removal of the buildings and all associated structures. Environmental testing is ongoing, and will continue throughout the demolition process. Fencing, grading and seeding will take place as necessary to address security, erosion control and aesthetics.

The Ford site provides an unprecedented redevelopment opportunity in Saint Paul. The area is surrounded by a vibrant residential community and bustling business district. Saint Paul's Planning and Economic Development Department has conducted numerous studies to prepare for Ford's future marketing of the site in 2015. The goal is for a mixed-use site that uses innovative urban design to reduce traffic impacts and encourage walking, biking and transit.
