In a cold, post-Thanksgiving showdown, No. 1 Nebraska defeated No. 15/16 Oklahoma 21-7. Despite freezing conditions and limited passing yards for both teams, Nebraska capitalized on four Oklahoma turnovers. Oklahoma took an early lead with a 74-yard touchdown drive, but Nebraska tied the game with a 2-yard run from quarterback Tommie Frazier, set up by Toby Wright’s interception.
The game remained tied until the fourth quarter, when Frazier threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Abdul Muhammad. Oklahoma fumbled on the ensuing kickoff, leading to a 20-yard touchdown run by Calvin Jones, sealing the victory. Nebraska’s defense stifled Oklahoma’s offense in the second half, limiting them to just seven yards over four possessions.
Despite only gaining 179 yards of offense, Nebraska’s defense and timely turnovers secured the win, maintaining their perfect record and keeping their national championship hopes alive. This was their first perfect regular season since 1983.
