Heavenly was briefed to create a new name and visual identity for Macrovision, the US-based global entertainment technology specialist.
With a heritage of over 25 years in content protection software, Macrovision was ambitious to broaden its influence across the entertainment industry and extend its brand, beyond B2B, into the consumer world.
As part of this plan, Macrovision had acquired a wide range of market-leading businesses from across the entertainment and media convergence industries including Gemstar TV Guide, AMG and Muze.
These acquisitions had broadened Macrovision's offering to over 40 branded products including interactive programme guides, entertainment metadata and connected platform software solutions.
Heavenly's role was to create a new name and brand identity to unite these diverse businesses across 12 countries under one banner and reassert Macrovision as a powerful and creative entertainment brand with genuine consumer appeal.
Rovi was launched in July 2009.
At the 2011 Transform Awards Rovi received the Grand Prix for excellence in rebranding. It also received Golds for the Best Creative Strategy, the Best Brand Consolidation and the Best Technology Rebrand, as well as 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Awards.
