Once the Qing Dynasty’s most formidable general, Su Can gave up a promising future to return to his hometown. He planned to focus on studying martial arts, establish his own school, and live a peaceful life with his wife, Yuan Ying, and son, never to be separated again, enjoying family bliss. However, due to past grudges, his sworn brother, Yuan Lie, mastered dark and forbidden martial arts, killed Su’s father, and kidnapped Su Can’s wife and son.

In a battle by the river, Su Can was defeated. As his life hung by a thread, his wife sacrificed herself to save him. He was then rescued by the mysterious and reclusive master, Lady Yu, who had spent years living in the mountains and studying herbs. Together, they managed to save his life.

Devastated by the loss of his right arm, Su Can fell into despair and drowned his sorrow in alcohol, avoiding reality. But under the careful care and encouragement of his wife, he slowly regained his strength. Su Can faced off against Yuan Lie once again, seeking redemption, but in a moment of impulsiveness, he failed to save his wife, Yuan Ying, who had been buried alive by Yuan Lie.

After his wife’s death, heartbroken Su Can and his son became wanderers at the China-Russia border. At this point, Su Can was living like a beggar. One night, after a drunken stupor, he encountered the "God of Martial Arts", with whom he had once sparred in a vision. Through their battle, Su Can discovered a unique martial art that could be executed in a drunken state—Drunken Fist.
