Borderlands 2: Patched E-Tech Snipers- do they still suck!?

Without the community patch, E-Tech Snipers are pretty much garbage. They hit for less on headshots than regular snipers and consume twice as much ammo.
The patch removes their critical hit penalty and also removes the double ammo consumption. These are now crazy powerful, and have a nice piercing ability that allows for easier kills of certain enemies like Witch Doctors.
I think I will definitely need to farm for some E-Tech rifles on my no gibbed save.
