The incident dates back to February 20, 2023, in the Bhimapur area under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Balasore district. The convict, Chandan Rana from Nayapatana village, threw acid on a family of four due to past enmity. While four people were seriously injured, one woman succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College, Cuttack.
