In today’s farm upgrade, we put two budget-friendly pieces of gear to work and show you exactly how we built them, set them up, and used them on the property:
✅ Temu XXXL slant-roof resin dog shelter (elevated + ventilated canopy / all-weather / UV resistant)
✅ DOGOITM GPS Wireless Dog Fence (2 collars) — adjustable boundary radius 65 ft to 3290 ft, 3 warning/correction modes, rechargeable, IPX6 waterproof, no app or subscription
But the real stars of the video… we just picked up two absolutely beautiful Great Pyrenees Livestock Guardian Dogs from Kassy Campbell, and we’re beyond excited to welcome them to the farm.

Why Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs) are a game-changer
If you’ve got goats, sheep, chickens, cattle, donkeys—anything you’re trying to keep safe—LGDs are one of the best investments you can make:
• 24/7 predator deterrent: LGDs don’t “clock out.” Their presence alone can keep coyotes, stray dogs, bobcats, and other threats from even testing your fence line.
• They protect by nature, not by chasing: Great Pyrenees are bred to stay with the herd/flock, patrol, posture, bark, and block—more “security guard” than “attack dog.”
• Less stress for animals (and you): When livestock feels safer, they eat, rest, and behave better. And you get that priceless peace of mind at night.
• Layered security works best: Good fencing + shelter + LGDs is the combo. Fences slow predators down; LGDs convince them it’s not worth the risk.

⸻
Quick LGD tips (especially for new owners)
• Bonding matters: LGDs protect what they bond with—give them supervised time around your animals early and often.
• Start small, build trust: Controlled intros with calm livestock first; don’t throw them into chaos day one.
• Feed separately at first: Prevent food guarding and keep things calm while they settle in.
• Containment is training + safety: GPS fences can help teach boundaries, but they’re not a substitute for real fencing and supervision, especially during the learning phase.
• Consistency wins: The first few months are the foundation for the next 10+ years.

If you’ve been thinking about LGDs, or you’re trying to level up your farm security on a budget, this one’s for you.
