Twisted Metal 2 Hard Shadow Deathless Speedrun

Описание: DAMN! I was not expecting this in the slighted bit when I started playing Shadow. I knew he was extremely fast, but I never thought anyone other than Axel would be capable of achieving a time like this. The fact I was on World Record pace for majority of this run is mind boggling. I was just trying to get a new PB lol.

LA: Under 2 minutes. Now I’ve had LA stages under a minute twenty with Shadow before, but those were always extremely lucky, and not consistently replicable in how they went down. I did still get multiple group ups on the slanted turns, which sped this up quite a bit. Unfortunately, Outlaw was the last opponent, so she of course had to be difficult. So it goes.

Moscow: Whoosh 💨! That was beautiful. As good as the Moscow in my WR run even. This showcases just how deadly the remote bomb special combo can be with this guy. Once I detonated my payload on those 3 at the start, the rest was mainly mop up duty. Which is perfect for this guy with all those inclines everywhere on this map.

Paris: Nice. For Shadow this is a great Paris. It’s hard for him to lay out consistent damage on such a flat map without napalms and group attacks. Thankfully, I got to both to occur here, resulting in a very quick completion. Grimm did give me quite the scare though I will say. You’ll see this again later in the run.

Amazonia: …. That’s easily a candidate for the best single stages in a run I’ve ever had. 1:10 was how long it took me to finish this stage. Here more than anywhere else, Shadow displays the full affect of his max damage special attack. If you get any of them to converge together and you have plenty of explosives saved up, this is beyond a cake walk. Even landing in front of Twister so she’d use her special was perfect, as it allowed me to take out here and Grasshopper in one fell swoop. Amazing Amazonia.

Minion: A little dicey, but still a very solid Minion battle from a time persepective. Whenever he starts playing in the lava, you always hope he’ll just drive back onto the main road so as to not spaz out and lose his mind. Thankfully he did not do so here.

NY: Another phenomenal stage. Very close to being my fastest ever New York. I spawned with great positioning, I didn’t over extend when they came at me, and I was able to eliminate everyone in a safe and fast manner. Even Spectre was relative lightwork here. Also, you can bet your ass that take down of Slam felt oh so satisfying 💣.

Antarctica: Mmmmm… the one hiccup of this whole run. Firstly, I got one less opponent to come through the portal than I should’ve. Secondly, they took their sweet time getting over there to me. And lastly, the 3 at the end were kind of just derping all over the place. Really wish Grasshopper and Outlaw would’ve stayed together there. Probably would’ve saved a good extra 20 seconds. Oh well

Holland: Welp it would seem the rng of Antarctica, got teleported over to this stage instead. Whenever you get to take out Spectre that quickly on this stage, you know you’re in for a good time. Then it just kept getting better. Bam, a 5 man group up in the corner that I took full advantage of with that bombing bombardment bliss. Apart from Grimm’s degenerate antics in that corner, the rest of this stage was as smooth as silk. I got to take my time and dispose of each of the remaining combatants with the greatest of ease.

Hong Kong: Considering how my Hong Kong runs typically play out, sub 2:30 deathless is definitely something I want to sign up for. Everything on this stage, basically played out exactly how I would envision it in my hed. 3 quick kills out the gate on very fidgety freeze spammers, a chance to make a quick run to the docks, and gr to restock my health. Also a showcase of the new strategy I’ve been working on with Shadow. Utilizing the ramps going towards the temple, if you get the opponents stuck up there, you can wipe out all of them in mere seconds. After that I just had to finish off Axel and Roadkill for a very successful overall run on Hong Kong.

Dark Tooth: THIS is why Shadow is so great against boss characters. His special damage allows you to engage the boss in combat, without the need to overstock on supplies beforehand like many other members of the cast. Utilizing this, I was able to get the 2nd fastest take down of Dark Tooth that I’ve ever had in these runs. It’s crazy that the HEAD actually gave me more trouble than the main body. Thank God he killed himself by ramming into me at the end there. This run was just too good to have ended there I guess.

And so, there’s the fastest deathless Hard mode completion ever done on this game. Never thought I’d be saying that on a Shadow run. My target time with this car was a sub 21, so this was a very pleasant surprise to say the least. Who knows what other possibilities this opens up for him. Guess there’s more to this game than even I can see. Shadow man go BOOM!
