Marco Fay talks about soil, his single vineyard "Carteria" and difference in altitude regarding Valtellina's wines Appellations.

Why Marco Fay for me is important? Becasue Marco was the first that talk to me about his new vision on what makes really Valtellina Vineyards and so Valtellina Wines so different each others: THE DIFFERENCE IN ALTITUDE BETWEEN THE VARIOUS VINEYARDS.

The difference is iven by the different altitude level and not only by the different Area there, like Maroggia, Sassella, Grumello, Inferno and Valgella.

This becasue also the soil composition which is mainly sandy with a 10% maximum of silt. overall is like this, with few exception in some area like in Grumello where there is a small part with granite stones inside the soil or some places where you can find small touch of clay.

Also Marco shows us the different appellatons follwing the altitude level talking about the vineyard where he makes the Sforzato wine.

What i would like to know from you is the reason why you are interested in Valtellina wines and also if you have already been there and what is your experience of this amazing place and products.
