Armed Forces Medical College
Armed Forces Medical College, Pune is a premier medical institution in India.
The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune was established on May 1, 1948.
AFMC has the distinction of being the first medical college set up by the armed forces of any country in Asia.
The college is a unique institution which combines medical education with training specific to the healthcare needs of the armed forces.
AFMC has been consistently rated among the top three medical colleges in India.
The Government of India issued the commemorative coin to mark Platinum Jubilee of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, on December 1, 2023 and was released by President Droupadi Murmu.
The Obverse side of the coin features the Lion capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre, with ‘satyameva jayate’ inscribed below it. The word Bharat in Devanagiri script appears on the left periphery, and the word INDIA in English appears on the right periphery.
On the Reverse side of the coin, Logo of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune encircled with the “75” representing Platinum Jubilee. is in the centre, with the inscription, “Armed Forces Medical College, Pune” in English and Devanagiri script at the bottom and top of the coin.
The Metal composition of the coin is 80% Silver and 20% copper. The coin weighs 35 grams with 44 millimetre in diameter.
