Canadian Filmmaker, David Cronenberg is viewed as the creator of the Body Horror genre. His debut film Shivers, caused quite a stir. Canadian Parliament got INVOLVED. He was viewed as a provocateur mostly because of the era he was making films in. This was before The Thing, Alien, and other famous science fiction films.

The Brood later came out in 1979, a film praised by audiences and critics. Oliver Reed kills it in a supporting role. The film is loosely based on Cronenberg's experiences during his ongoing divorce/custody battle. This is why I love Science-Fiction, he is able to express his anger and channel it into art.

Scanners came out in 1981, and this is the head explosion movie. Its Cronenberg's take on a conspiracy mad scientist movie and its full of gross outs and tons of fun. Its the most Cronenberg a Cronenberg movie can be.

Videodrome (1983) is Cronenberg's debut studio film. What a way to start your studio career! Making one of the hardest films to digest, a film critiquing what many believed he was doing, by polluting the public's eyes with his artistic expression. One of the most iconic of his filmography, Videodrome is also ahead of its time sorta predicting the Internet and addiction to cell phones.

The Dead Zone is Cronenberg's take at a Stephen King adaptation and man does he kill it

Winning an Oscar in Best Makeup. The Fly is his magnum opus to many. Jeff Goldblum really submits himself as more than just the goofy guy you see in commercials nowadays, really a powerhouse performance.

Dead Ringers is Jeremy Irons playing 2 identical twins. Jeremy Irons loved the experience so much on set, he eventually thanked Cronenberg at his Oscar acceptance speech for a DIFFERENT movie.

Naked Lunch is an adaptation of a Burroughs book that is notorious for being impossible to adapt. Its the most dense material he has ever worked with and its a cult classic.

Crash is one of the most controversial films made by Cronenberg. A film where car crashes are used as a method of turning people on.

A History of Violence is Viggo Mortenson's first Cronenberg film, first of many. He really demonstrates his immense range.

Eastern Promises is a film featuring Viggo and Naomi Watts, she plays a nurse that finds a diary with some damning information inside.

Crimes of the Future is his latest film, where society is starting to EAT plastic and surgery is being showcased as art.
