Dell PowerEdge 2950III Noise Reduction modification

Myself and Ron purchased 2 Dell PowerEdge 2950 III. The only issue is noise level can reach upwards of 90db. we found a verity of modifications that could be done to the fans and BMC to reduce the noise level to about 50db.

I am very happy with the results and definitely suggest it to anyone interested in a home server to get a Dell PowerEdge 2950 III as they are economical and very powerful.

BMC process:

-download the dell firmware and extract all the files with 7zip.
-take a copy of the date file (bmcflsh.dat).
-paste the bmcflsh.dat into a linux box and run the python script against it.
-take a copy of they modified script back to the windows box and replace the old bmcflsh.dat.
-install windows on your 2950
-bring over all the extracted firmware files into the 2950 and run the setup.
-when you are done install esxi and you are good to go.
