An overview of the cam stack arrangement on the SAM B-2. This is a common design shared by many Japanese made side loading zigzag machines with a stitch selection dial located in the top center of the body. If you open the top of a Japanese side loading machine and see a cam stack mounted in-line with the dial it will probably work like this one.
I know that the NELCO badged SAM 3B, Decora 950B, Stitchmaster 1692
White 609, and more machines under many badges have this arrangement. Because it features a separate zigzag cam, machines with this cam selector can usually be converted to plain zigzag operation even if the cam selector is broken or fails.
