Felt great to get back into the air after successfully studying for and taking the CPL and CFI knowledge exams! This more or less kicks off the CPL PTS stretch, having not practiced emergency procedures in a few months. Justin Balinski was back in town, so took the opportunity to get some good work in with him. After starting out with standard SFAR 73 emergency procedures (governor off, warning lights) we did a lot of off-airport auto-rotations, specifically geared towards getting me used to maneuvering the aircraft more aggressively / purposefully while in auto-rotation. We also practiced settling with power, namely the Vuichard recovery, which I've never felt like I fully understood. We closed the session with some slope landings and quick stops.
In all, felt good. A little bit rusty as expected, but nothing too far off. Will work to become more relaxed in autos, and with continued practice I'm sure I'll get there.
