This lecture is was created for use in Thermodynamics for Mechanical Engineers at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
In this lecture I introduce terminology and general solution methods for analyzing Internal Combustion Engines. We look at the suite of assumptions we’ll have to make to get analytical solutions for these types of problems and we start to put together a framework for analysis that we’ll continue of the next two lectures (Otto and Diesel engines).
