The Most OVERRATED Rifle? Vetterli 71 Mastery | Hunt: Showdown 1896

Is this fan-favorite rifle as good as people say, or is it just extraordinarily average? In this video, I put all five Vetterli variants to the test:

Vetterli 71 Karabiner – Standard version, solid stats.
Vetterli Silencer – Quieter but weaker velocity and drop range.
Vetterli Deadeye & Marksman – Scoped variants with reduced velocity.
Vetterli Cyclone – The beast of the bunch, a semi-auto rifle with a spring-loaded magazine and fast fire rate.

The Vetterli 71 deals 130 damage, making it capable of one-tapping hunters missing a health chunk, but its default velocity of 410 m/s isn’t great. You can boost this with high-velocity ammo, but that comes with lower damage and higher recoil.

For ammo types, the Vetterli can run:
✔ High Velocity – Increases speed but lowers damage.
✔ FMJ – Best for penetration and long-range fights.
✔ Subsonic – Reduces noise but drastically lowers velocity.
✔ Fire Ammo – Ignites enemies within 20 meters (if they don’t have Salveskin).

Is the Vetterli 71 Worth Using?

After testing every variant, I found the Cyclone to be by far the best, but the other variants struggle to compete with better alternatives like the Krag, Infantry 73L, or Ranger 73. Watch until the end for my final verdict and best loadouts!
