Описание: Eduardo Góes Neves se formou em história pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP), é doutor em arqueologia pela Universidade de Indiana, professor da USP e presidente da Sociedade de Arqueologia Brasileira. Eduardo trabalha na Amazônia desde a década de 1980 e participou de uma revolução no entendimento do passado da região. Nesta palestra ele conta sobre a densa ocupação da Amazônia desde o período pré-colonial, traça um paralelo entre a biodiversidade e a sociodiversidade da região e mostra como a economia das civilizações amazônicas pré-coloniais se baseava em um modo de exploração dos recursos naturais totalmente diferente do que estamos propondo hoje para a região.
Esta apresentação foi gravada no dia 27 de agosto de 2011 durante o TEDxVer-o-Peso, primeiro evento TEDx do Pará.

Eduardo Góes Neves graduated in history at the University of São Paulo (USP), has a PhD in archeology from Indiana University, is professor at USP and president of the Brazilian Society of Archaeology. Eduardo works in the Amazon since the 1980's and has taken part in a revolution in the understanding of the region´s past. In this talk he tells about Amazon's dense occupation since pre-colonial times, draws a parallel between the region's biodiversity and sociodiversity and shows how the economy of pre-colonial Amazonian civilizations was based in a way of exploring natural resources completely different from the one we are proposing nowadays for the region.
