About 40,000 Israelis on Saturday (12/09) demonstrated in Tel Aviv against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his hardline peace policies,demanding his resignation.
Israel's borders with the West Bank and the Gaza strip remained sealed following an incident Friday in which Israeli soldiers shot dead two Palestinians described by the army as "terrorists". Israeli Radio identified the two men as brothers Imad and Adel Awadallah, allegedly two of the most wanted members of the military wing of the Islamic militant Hamas movement.
Also, on Sunday, the Israeli cabinet convened to discuss, among other issues, the security situation in Israel following the event.
