Scriabin’s 3 Pieces were written near the end of his middle period. The first of the trio, the Album Leaf, is one of Scriabin’s more famous piano miniatures, and by far the most conservative harmonically. Scriabin’s synthetic Mystic Chord takes formation in all three pieces, with several instances of its inverted version appearing in full.
