The National Park Service describes Jordan Pond as "one of the park's most pristine lakes, with outstanding surrounding mountain scenery. Glaciers carved the landscape, leaving behind numerous geological features".
Visitors can hike the Jordan Pond Path, a 3.3 mile loop, that traverses the shore of Jordan Pond. Bordered by Penobscot, Pemetic, and two rounded peaks known as the Bubbles, Jordan Pond offers hikers many great sights!
Hike up to any of these surrounding peaks for amazing views of this amazing lake! And if you love wildlife, listen for the calls of common loons, search for signs of beaver activity, and watch the granite cliffs above for nesting peregrine falcons.
The Spring Trail connects the Jordan Pond House to the Penobscot Mountain Trail, making it the most popular route to the top of Penobscot Mountain. The Spring Trail leads to many other great hiking trails, though some of these trails are closed during peregrine falcon nesting season.
