Satsang 1 of Yoga Vasishtha - The Supreme Yoga, begins with a prayer, which is a salutation to the Supreme Consciousness. This is followed by a brief introduction to the Yoga Vasishtha and Valmiki's explanation about the qualifications of one who can read the Yoga Vasishtha. The text then goes on to speak at length about Rama's despondency at the changing vicissitudes of life and it's transient nature. Sri M intersperses the reading with stories like that of Sukha Deva. The session draws to a close with Vasishtha's wise counsel to Rama on the importance of self-effort in the spiritual path.
