City Compost: An Organic Manure is a film produced by LHWRF as part of the Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security project, supported by @giz_india
LHWRF, in collaboration with GIZ and Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal (MAVIM), a state government enterprise, is implementing various women empowerment programs through Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across six districts in Maharashtra: Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Dhule, Nagpur, Wardha, and Sindhudurg. These initiatives are part of the Soil Protection & Rehabilitation for Food Security project, aimed at promoting natural farming practices to enhance food security.
LHWRF is promoting and setting up bio resource units, which follow a business.These initiatives target vulnerable regions, tribal communities, rainfed agricultural areas, and backward regions, with a particular focus on women farmers.
Key efforts include setting up Biochar production units, City Compost facilities, BioPROM units, and Jeevamrut units. These bio-resource units aim to minimize the overuse of chemical fertilizers and promote natural farming practices, representing a significant move towards regenerative agriculture and tackling pressing agricultural challenges.
