If you’re starting to feel:
2. Constant hunger
Outside of the acceptable among that is normally required for a calorie deficit and fat loss.
3. Your Motivation has tanked
Nothing about this process is fun or gives you something to look forward to, you want nothing to do with the gym, and you don’t have a tight timeline like a show (it may be time to take a step back and switch gears)
4. You can’t keep up with your normal step count
Your body is smart and although it won’t switch into “starvation mode”, if you push it too far it will make the amount of steps you normally take much harder to do. This is a good sign you need more food for a period of time.
5. You’ll diet on your vacation
If you start to consider how you’ll diet during periods when you actually need a break, it’s a practical sign it’s time for a diet break.
If you’ve been dieting for an extended period of time (8-12+ weeks) and you’re experiencing this signs, it’s worth considering eating at maintenance levels or more for 1-3 weeks, or taking a pause with tracking and eating more mindfully…
All of which could be considered a “diet break”.
