Unexpected checks can save a game! In this lesson, we start off with a position from GM Avetik Grigoryan’s game. It was also the position offered as a training exercise in Daily lesson 3.
In the game, Black resigned prematurely after White’s spectacular-looking queen sacrifice. But there was a way to save the game - with an unexpected check! GM Avetik shows that and also explains why the queen sacrifice was inaccurate. Instead of that, White could've found a better move instead and won the game comfortably.
