This LEGO® Technic model is based off of a 2021 Volvo FMX 540 Day Cab truck with an 8x6 drivetrain and a dump/tipper bed. It has four Powered Up L motors for power, two for drive, one for steering, and one to power the bed tilt. The tailgate is connected to the bed and the chassis with a linkage opens the back when the bed is up, and keeps it closed when the bed is down. There is suspension on all the axles: there is live axle with springs in the front and a linked tandem suspension in the rear. Most of the lights are Light My Bricks® Bit lights, and the big light strips on the top are from Brickstuff®. As usual, the cab tilts and the doors and sunroof open. The front bumper is also much sturdier than my previous Volvo FMX designs.
The original version of this model had 8x8 drive, but because there was not enough space to put a central differential, it had trouble turning on smooth wood floors. I removed the drive in the second axle, so now it has no problems with turning. It is also more realistic because the original is available in 8x6 configuration but not in 8x8 unless it is the military version.
