We gather today to celebrate the life, legacy, and homegoing of Maria Elena Worrell—a woman of unwavering faith, remarkable strength, and deep compassion. Maria’s life was marked by service to God, devotion to family, and tireless commitment to her community.
Born in Panama and later making her home in Brooklyn, New York, Maria touched countless lives through her work, ministry, mentorship, and love. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, whose faith guided every chapter of her life. For more than four decades, she faithfully served the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights and supported ministries focused on restoration, outreach, and care for others.
This service honors her journey, her testimony, and the enduring impact she leaves behind. Though we mourn her passing, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and give thanks for a life so richly lived.
