Komatsu PC4000 excavator is loading overburden while advancing straight forward across the surface. The machine is moving ahead and loading from the top layer, not digging deep at this stage. It’s a controlled surface advance as the shovel prepares the area step by step.
On the next pass, the excavator transitions into full digging depth and officially begins the stripping process, removing the overburden to expose the material below. That’s when the real heavy work starts.
