Onto Christmas spirit, festivities are happening around the region for the holiday period. At carols in Kiama, families gathered at Hindmarsh Park on Wednesday night for the annual event.

Local choirs and musicians filled the park with Christmas classics, while Santa made a special appearance joined by food stalls and glow sticks for the kids.

In sport, the Illawarra Hawks gave their NBL title defence a huge boost on Thursday with a comeback win over the Brisbane Bullets in Wollongong.
