Sunlight Lake is on the northwest side of the Crazy Mountains, accessed from the Shields River valley. The highest peak on this side of the mountain range is nearby Sunlight Peak which sits at 10,086 feet and the tallest peak in the Crazy range is Crazy Peak at 11,178 feet.
These mountains were once part of the Crow (Apsaalooke) tribal lands and are a sacred place for them. Read more about their history and importance to the tribe here: https://www.nps.gov/bica/learn/news/i...
