Binary (Base-2): In binary, there are only two digits, 0 and 1. Decimal (Base-10): Decimal is the number system humans use in everyday life, based on ten digits: 0 through 9. Computers can represent and work with decimal numbers, but binary is the native language of computers. Conversion between binary and decimal is often required when displaying results to users or when interfacing with external systems that use decimal notation.

Hexadecimal (Base-16): Hexadecimal is a convenient way to represent binary values in a more compact and readable form. It uses the digits 0-9 and the letters A-F to represent values from 0 to 15. Hexadecimal is often used in low-level programming and debugging, especially when working with memory addresses and binary data. Each digit in a hexadecimal number represents four binary bits.

Octal (Base-8): Octal is less common today but was historically used in computing, particularly on older computer systems. It uses the digits 0-7. Like hexadecimal, octal can represent binary values in a more compact form, with each octal digit corresponding to three binary bits.

In computers, data is stored and processed using binary representation. Binary is used to represent numbers, characters, and other information. When you interact with a computer, you often see information presented in decimal or hexadecimal (e.g., memory addresses, RGB color codes), but the underlying data and operations are still performed in binary.

Understanding these different number systems is essential for computer scientists, programmers, and engineers, as it forms the basis for data representation and manipulation in computing systems
