On Sunday April 2, 2017, the Texas capital city of Austin was under a Moderate Risk for severe weather. At 9:30am CDT, a Tornado Warned storm approached Austin from the SW. It was moving at a furious pace near 50mph.
0:00 - 0:11 - The leading edge of the storm races through North Central Austin, crossing over the heavily trafficked Highway 183.
0:11 - 0:44 - (shown at 4X Speed) The worst part of the storm is hitting the Jollyville and Balcones Woods Neighborhoods at 183/Duval Rd.
0:44 - 1:10 - The 70+ mph winds are throwing the tops of large oak trees around like blades of grass
1:10 - Multiple power flashes (unseen in video) cause the power to go out on 183 and surrounding neighborhoods
1:15 - Flag poles are shaking wildly with the power grids that were blown apart are seen in the background.
1:40 - 3:15 - A sped up GoPro view of driving north on 183 finally shows the possible tornado that crossed near 183 and north of Duval Rd.
3:20 - A freeze frame with the outlined possible tornado is shown
3:30 - 5:10 - Significant tree and sign damage is shown through the Balcones Woods Neighborhood, located along and just east of 183.
