In the warm afternoon air, CUTIS and little Buem lie side by side, resting peacefully under the fan, unaware of what is about to happen.
Dad calls them down for a simple meal and gently serves food to both children, watching them with quiet affection. While they eat, he finishes packing a small backpack. Later, when the house grows calm and the children fall asleep beside Yen Nhu, Dad sits on the front step with a heavy heart.
