This is a side-by-side comparison between top local angler, Shawn Skidmore (multi-time Angler of the Year for both of my local kayak bass fishing trails, superb angler and awesome guy), and my technique for fishing a blade bait. His way he can keep some tension on the line as the lure falls so he knows if a fish hits on the fall. My way the only time I feel a hit is if I go to lift the rod tip and there is resistance. Don’t get me wrong, my way works some and I have caught some nice fish this way, but I have never once caught a fish on the fall of the blade and that is a big problem.
