Here Is how to replace the shifter cable on a Shimano bicycle shifter. This video shows you how to replace the cable on a Shimano bicycle shifter. Look at the Shimano shifter in the video, and if yours looks the same, then this technique will work.
1. First, remove two screws to remove the top of the shifter cover.
2. Disconnect the bike gear shifter cable from the front or rear derailer. Cut off the end of the cable if it is frayed.
3. Pull the old Shimano gear shifter cable out through the top of the shifter mechanism.
4. Oil your new gear shifter cable and feed it through the shifter and through the cable housings down to your derailer. Bolt it in place while pulling the gear shift cable tight.
5. Put the top of the shifter cover back on the top of your shifter, and put in the two screws to hold it in place. Don’t tighten them too tight.
