In 2024, Botswana faced its driest wet season in 40 years. As water sources dried up and animals struggled to survive, a remarkable effort began: a local couple started pumping water into the Boteti River from their private boreholes. Joined by Animal Survival International (ASI), the project now delivers nearly 16,000 gallons (60,000 liters) of water daily using solar-powered pumps and extended piping - with plans to expand further.
